The LGBT Community Fund of The Chicago Community Trust is conducting a needs assessment for the Chicagoland LGBT community to get a better sense of the community’s needs and assets. If you live in the Chicagoland area and self-identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer, please take 20 minutes to add your voice to the conversation by completing this survey. Responses from LGBTQ people of color, youth, South and West Side residents, and lower-income individuals are especially needed at this time.
Voter ID Laws In Illinois Will Suppress the Low-Income Vote!
These laws could significantly reduce the number of low-income voters that will be able to cast their ballots on election day.
Senate Bill 2496 and House Bill 3903 are just two in a wave of similar bills proposed (and sometimes passed) in State legislatures across the country since the 2008 elections; largely by the GOP. These laws will disproportionately impact low-income voters, particularly African Americans.
In other words, the GOP does not want you to vote.
