Voter ID Laws In Illinois Will Suppress the Low-Income Vote!

Two voter ID laws introduced in the Illinois state legislature would require that you present a government-issued photo ID in order to vote.

Chicago Teachers Union Accuses CPS of Discriminating Against Black Teachers

The Chicago Teachers Union filed a complaint with the EEOC this past Wednesday, alleging racial bias in layoffs dolled out by the Chicago Public School system last summer.

The complaint states that although African American teachers make up 29 percent of the CPS teaching staff, they accounted for 49 percent of those laid off. Meanwhile, white teachers, who make up 47 percent of the CPS teaching staff, only accounted for 37 percent of those laid off in 2011.

These layoffs also disproportionately affected predominantly African American schools.

The teen and his friends hurry onto the train, laughing hysterically.
